“I’ve wanted to work in design since high school, there I had a keen interest in textile and pattern design. At school I had an interest in both fashion and interior design (as well as 3d design and visualisation), I chose to study a BTEC in 3D /Interior design after high school and went onto to complete my A-levels in Graphic design. I loved working on ideas from the ground upwards and creating brand identities. While I was still at college I raised sponsorship and exhibited at the Tatton Park Design Awards, I created a ‘Rest and Relaxation’ Meditation room. This featured a hand painted set of the nights sky and contained a sprouting trees through the floor. The project allowed me to be as imaginative as I wanted, I would love to recreate that in my current home given the chance!
After college I went to Lincoln University where I completed my degree in 3d/interior design with a concentration on 3D and visualisation side of design. During my final year my main focus was a re-designed piece of a VW garage, using lighting technology. The spatial layout design very detailed, I loved it and after finishing my degree with a 2:1 and working as a 3D designer for a period I entered the final sector of my education at Leeds Metropolitan University to complete a degree in Graphic Design, also finishing with a 2:1.”

“Since graduating the 2nd time around i’ve been working at various graphic agencies in the North of England, with a number of small to large clients such as corporate branding in the NHS. My passion is brand creation – seeing where your product is placed on the market and identifying what needs to be done to readdress and make a shift. Aside from my more corporate clients I adore illustration and interior apparel, Pidgey is my little side project in interior apparel. It’s important to have side projects as a creative I think where you are not bound by a brief. I adore packaging design also and have recently been able to work on some lovely projects – some at pitch stage, some live, some conceptual. It extends your skills as a designer. I’m not a 9-5 designer, I doodle constantly and keep a sketch pad by me for ideas and brainstorming all the time.

Current personal projects include two children’s books. One a short board book “The Squirrel that Blew Away” , the other is a little more abstract but a children’s fable. Its good to live in a dreamworld sometimes. I love what I do for a living, always imagining- whether it be a rhyme for a children illustration or formulating a brand identity for a consumable product. Theres literally nothing else i could imagine doing, other than maybe an F1 driver maybe.”

It's not often i bark from the rooftops but...

Its not often i take to my blog to chant about the genius of someones work (mainly because i am so busy i barely update my blog as it is and im too busy woofing on twitter - you'll get the pun in a moment) but i couldn't resist when spying this April Fools campaign by Warby Parker.

http://warbybarker.com/

So cleverly executed, every last detail covered with stunning photography and waggy tailed subjects. It's a beautifully conceived idea that could fool anyone.

A clean and crisp homepage, letting the photography do the talking (or barking) it cleverly leads you though a number of different facets, becoming more detailed and futher convincing you of the brand.

For those of you who haven't heard of Warby Parker - they are a boutique eyewear site that sell classic designs for prescription users at a snip of the cost who don't compromise on style.

This years April Fool campaign is set to get people talking (as well as design and marketing folk like myself) tweeting away, adding more traffic and discussion about a brand that some will not have previously been aware of.

A step on from the 'Compare the Meerkat' (while possibly inspired by this concept) this strategy holds an extra element of a more plausible reality about it and sells the possibility of the idea through good sharp, product focused design, navigation that gives nothing away, a well-rounded body of explanatory copy which leads you eagerly wanting to know more Has someone actually done it? Can we purchase? Will my dog wear these i wonder?

A quick look at Warby Parkers Annual 2012 report shows the creative minds behind the brand, the infographic engaging its users on a personal level to gain understanding of its employees.

Well done Warby Parker - you have me sold. I look forward to next years idea.
